
Deandre Grant, a 21-year-old construction worker of Bellfield District, Manchester, was arrested and charged in connection to several shootings and murders from December 2022 to July 2023 in Clarendon and Manchester.
He is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, and two counts of wounding with intent and shooting with intent. Other charges include four counts of unauthorised possession of a prohibited weapon, five counts of unauthorised possession of ammunition, and six counts of using a firearm to commit a felony.
The charges were laid against him on October 4.
History of offences
The Manchester police report that on December 8, 2022, Grant shot and killed 21-year-old Soniel Muschette, a construction worker from Comfort District in the parish.
Grant was also charged with the murder of Novlyn Matthews, a 44-year-old chef from New Green District in Manchester, on March 3, 2023. Reports from the Manchester police are that Matthews and another man were walking along a roadway when they were attacked by Grant and three other armed men. Matthews was shot and killed. The man was injured and treated at the hospital.
The 21-year-old serial shooter struck again on March 6, 2023, when he and two other men attacked security guards at a plaza in Mandeville. The armed men demanded money from the guards, and when their demands were not met, they opened gunfire. No one was harmed.
His last recorded act of violence was on July 31 at his home in Top Coffee Grove in Manchester. Grant attacked a man with a gun. The two started to fight, and the man was shot several times. The injured man ran to the hospital and was treated for his injuries.
Grant was arrested on August 2 in Westmoreland for a separate incident.
His court date is being arranged.
