CPL Caribbean Premier League

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is more than just cricket , it’s a celebration of sport, culture and entertainment across the region. As the tournament continues to draw fans to stadiums and screens, here are five things you should know about the CPL, from its Jamaican roots and history-making moments to some of the partnerships helping to shape the tournament experience.

  1. The Caribbean Premier League launched in 2013.

The Jamaica Tallawahs made history by becoming the first-ever champions of the Caribbean Premier League in 2013, defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the inaugural final. The victory established Jamaica as the first team to lift the CPL trophy, a piece of history that Jamaican cricket fans still proudly claim today.

  1. Jamaica is officially back in the CPL in 2026.

The new Jamaica Kingsmen are making their debut this season, marking the return of a Jamaican franchise after the Tallawahs’ final season in 2023.
