On August 15, 2026, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Jamaica donated school supplies to students from families with economic difficulties.

Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister-Counselor Yang Xiaorong attended the handover event and delivered remarks. Ms. Lana Finikin, Executive Director of the Sistren Theatre Collective, Mr. Dennis Samuels, President of Portmore Pines Citizen Association and representatives of beneficiary students attended.

Ms. Yang reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting local communities, hoping that the supplies could help students return to school and continue to pursue their dreams. The Jamaican side expressed sincere appreciation for China’s continued support for Jamaica’s vulnerable communities.
