MetaMaps in association with Binance presents Jamaica’s first Cryptocurrency and NFT Conference

On January 20, at the AC Hotel, A Night in the Metaverse (In Jamaica), will bring together BINANCE US CEO Brian Shroder, Peter Henry – VP Revenue MetaMaps and Alexia James – Regional NFT Digital Strategist, to take part in a conference designed to discuss Cryptocurrencies and Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and their collective disruption and advancement of finance.
“With Jamaica being the epicentre of cultural reference in the region, there’s no better place to bring this dynamic gathering of insight and expertise to the forefront,” said event curator Kibwe McGann.
“Binance is the largest and most popular cryptocurrency exchange in the world and, adding Brian Shroder to the speaker list was very important to our mission and adds considerable credibility to the event.
“In addition to Brian, we’ve also invited Alexia James to speak about NFTs. With the launch of Facebook’s Metaverse, you can’t speak about cryptocurrency and not speak about NFTs.”

Trinidad-born James, co-producer of the event, is considered by many as one the region’s most visible NFT strategists.
She said: “We had the (Art) Renaissance and now we have the Digital Revolution. We are now entering the accelerated world of the Creator Economy that is opening a whole new world of decentralised economic freedom to creators and teams within Web3 and NFTs. The barriers to entry are slowly being diminished and it’s now the time for our regional talent to shine on the Global Metaverse stage.”
James is one of the go-to voices and authorities within the Caribbean community for all things NFT. Recently, she was invited to Art basel in Miami as a speaker, representing the Caribbean voice.
Peter Henry of MetaMap (title sponsor) will address concerns surrounding digital trust and borderless services.
“At MetaMap, we are unlocking borderless growth in the Metaverse and the real world. We believe borders are no longer set being between two different countries but between different, parallel realities that will exist in the ever-evolving Metaverse. Our work will enable people, from all walks of life, to prove their merits (work, art, financial, etc) all worlds which in turn allows companies to operate and transact in both spaces.”
VALUABLE INSIGHT ON THE METAVERSE
Adarsh Bahtt, from Venture Capital firm Comma Capital, will add valuable insight about the Metaverse and what it means for future business.
“Though there may still be a large number of our population who do not understand cryptocurrencies and this current digital pivot, the time is now to lay the educational foundation to what is possible.
“Whether you know it or not, most people already live in the metaverse between social media, Zoom meetings, etc… as the years pass the Metaverse will continue to be an extension and for some a replacement of the human phenotype,”
Also speaking at the event will be Aldwyn Wayne, founder and CEO of WiPay, the Caribbean’s leading Fintech, and Kadion Preston, co-founder and CEO of CaribShopper, the region’s largest online marketplace for Caribbean goods to the Diaspora.
