As families across Jamaica prepare for the start of the new school year, Caledonia Medical Laboratory Limited (Biomedical) is making it more affordable for students to complete routine laboratory testing required for school medicals.
Until August 31, 2026, students presenting a valid school identification card can receive 10% off select routine laboratory tests commonly required for school medicals at Biomedical locations islandwide.
The eligible tests include Complete Blood Count (CBC), Haemoglobin (Hb), Urinalysis, Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) Test and Blood Group and Rhesus Factor (ABO & Rh).

According to Andre Williamson, Biomedical’s Chief Operating Officer, the initiative is intended to assist families with completing routine health requirements ahead of the new school year. He noted that with many families still in post-Hurricane Melissa recovery and rebuilding mode, the organisation wanted to help ease the financial burden for the new school year.
“School medicals are among the many preparations families undertake at this time of year. This initiative provides some support to students and parents as they complete the laboratory tests that may be required for school admission or registration,” said Williamson. “Our Back-to-School Laboratory Testing offer is designed to make the process more affordable and accessible for students and their families, while providing quality and reliability.”
In addition to school medicals, the company also offers a wide range of laboratory tests for parents, teachers and other family members, with tests available based on the relevant doctor’s referral.

“As the parents take their children in for their medicals, we’re also encouraging them to take the time to do their own Executive Profiles, which cover a broader range of health screening. In fact, GK One cardholders can receive 5% off Executive Profiles at any Biomedical location. So, let’s make health screening a family priority,” Williamson continued.
For more than five decades, Biomedical has been providing trusted diagnostic laboratory services in Jamaica, with a longstanding commitment to accurate results, reliable turnaround times, quality service and exceptional patient care.
With an expanding network of locations across Jamaica, including Kingston, St. Ann, St. James, St. Mary and Portland, Biomedical continues to make quality diagnostic laboratory services more accessible to communities across the island.
The company also facilitates group testing.
