Nkrumah Bonner picked up from where he left off on Wednesday to score an unbeaten century as Team Blackwood amassed 394-6d declared on day two of their Best v Best match against Team Brathwaite at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on Thursday (October 28).

In reply, Team Brathwaite closed the day on 73-2, 311 runs behind. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite will resume today on 34 while Shai Hope is yet to score.

Team Blackwood resumed from their overnight score of 234-4 with Bonner on 90 and Raymon Reifer on two. The pair came together on Wednesday when Team Blackwood had reached 218-4 and extended their partnership to 134 runs before Reifer was run out for 72.

Meanwhile, Bonner added a further 76 runs to his overnight score and added 10 boundary shots to the seven fours and two sixes he had scored overnight during his innings that lasted 508 minutes. The time batted, he said, was his main objective.

“Over the last few weeks it has been all nets and obviously I wanted to put all your skills into practice. To play a game was brilliant for me. The score was irrelevant for me. Time at the crease was one of my main goals and I got that so I am proud right now,” he said.

Jahmar Hamilton, who replaced Reifer failed to trouble the scorers and was dismissed by Jayden Seales. However, Alzarri Joseph (5 not out) and Bonner added another 31 runs before Jermaine Blackwood declared.

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite opened the batting with Jeremy Solozano but the partnership only yielded three runs as Solozano was dismissed by Kemar Roach for 2 in the first over.

Brathwaite and Shamarh Brooks added 69 for the second wicket before the latter was caught by Blackwood off the bowling of Imran Khan for 34. The captain and Hope saw out the final few overs of the day without any further loss.
