Intra-regional travel throughout the Eastern Caribbean has been given a big boost with the news that St Maarten-based Caribbean airline, Winair, is ramping up travel within that geography.

The airline is set to kick off a significant expansion of its route network across the region beginning next Monday, January 15, when it adds new routes across destinations including Antigua, St Maarten, Tortola and Dominica.

Services will be operated between Antigua and St Maarten, St Kitts, Tortola and Dominica as well as from St Kitts to St Maarten, Antigua, Dominica and Tortola. In addition, there will be service from Tortola to St Maarten, Antigua and St Kitts and from Dominica to St Maarten, Antigua and St Kitts.

The new flights create a new cluster of connections across the northeastern Caribbean, in a boon for intra-regional travel. The expansion comes after Winair just added more frequencies to its routes between St Maarten as well as Saba and Statia.

Winair says the move will “further enrich travel connectivity in the region,” noting that “these route expansions reinforce Winair’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and facilitating convenient travel options for customers between our key destinations”.

The news flights help open up some harder-to-reach destinations to St Maarten’s, particularly large network of flights from North America and Europe. This is in addition to increasing island-hopping options for travellers looking to do multi-destination vacations.
