China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) has installed lights in the Bull Bay signage, as part of efforts to upgrade the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project (SCHIP).

CHEC, which is the developer of the SCHIP, erected the sign last month in furtherance of its commitment to install adequate signage along the highway, which will run from Harbour View in St Andrew, through St Thomas, and continue into the parish of Portland.

The completion of the installation of the Bull Bay signage underscores CHEC’s commitment to enhancing coastal infrastructure and showcasing local gems along the throughfare.

In the meantime, the National Works Agency is continuing with the multimillion-dollar lighting along the roadway from Harbour View, St Andrew, to Yallahs, St Thomas.  

The 17-kilometre stretch, which forms part of the SCHIP, is being outfitted with some 400 light poles under a contract valued at just over J$400 million

The project is being executed in partnership with the Jamaica Public Service Company. The first set of lights was erected at the junction to the Grant’s Pen community in St Thomas.

The Harbour View to Yallahs leg of the SCHIP was completed in January this year at a cost of over US$114 million. The road was built as a four-lane highway, with several sections being realigned for safety and efficiency purposes.
