In Corporate Movements this week, the JMMB Group is advising that Patricia Duncan-Sutherland has resigned as group chief operations officer, effective July 31.

According to the regional financial house, Duncan-Sutherland has taken the difficult decision to leave JMMB, to pursue other opportunities, including her political career, where she will be contesting the September 3 general elections in Eastern St. Andrew on a People’s National Party (PNP) ticket against the incumbent, Finance Minister Fayval Williams.

Duncan-Sutherland joined JMMB Group in April 2021 as group chief operations manager after previously providing consultancy services to Jamaica Money Market Brokers from 2012.

Patricia has been a paragon of the group’s ‘Vision of Love’ mantra and has guided the JMMB’s operational framework and the day-to-day operations for the betterment of the company.

During the interim recruitment process for group COO, Gifford Rankine will act as deputy group chief operating officer. JMMB, which was started by her late mom, Joan, with the Duncan family as the single largest shareholder, has thanked Duncan-Sutherland for her invaluable contribution to the group and wishes her continued success in her future endeavours.

Changing of the guard at Massy

The board of directors of Trinidad-based Massy Holdings has announced the appointment of James McLetchie as president and CEO effective October 1, succeeding David Affonso, who will retire on September 30 after more than three decades with the group.

The leadership change follows a succession process aligned with the company’s strategy and long-term objectives. McLetchie joined Massy in August 2023 as executive vice president and group chief financial officer.

In January 2025, he was appointed deputy CEO. Over the past 18 months, he has worked with Affonso and the board on the group’s plans for growth and value creation across regional and international markets. A native of Santa Cruz in mainland Trinidad, McLetchie began his education at Boissiere RC in Maraval and started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Trinidad.

He spent 25 years abroad in senior roles at McKinsey & Company and Aveva, a software company listed on the London Stock Exchange. His experience includes leading teams through growth, transformation, and mergers and acquisitions in global markets.
