Jamaica continues to record new cases of the COVID-19 virus, with the latest update from the Ministry of Health and Wellness indicating that 37 cases of the virus were recorded between May 30 and June 5.

Westmoreland recorded eight new cases, the majority of cases recorded for the period. St James recorded seven new cases, while St Ann as well as Kingston and St Andrew recorded five new cases each.

There were no new deaths recorded.

However, there are still 345 possible COVID-related deaths that are under investigation.

Jamaica now has 59 active cases, meaning there are 59 persons who, as of June 5, have the virus. Five persons are said to have recovered from COVID between May 30 and June 5.

The Ministry continues to promote vaccination among citizens. They also urge those who have already taken the vaccines to take booster shots. Vaccination sites are located at health centres islandwide. To find your nearest health centre visit the Ministry’s website.
