The Ministry of Health and Wellness is reporting that, as at last Monday (March 22), vaccination efforts which began on March 10 have now accounted for 56 per cent of the month’s target, representing
a total of 26,512 inoculations of the 47,650 one-month target.

Addressing the weekly virtual COVID-19 Conversations press briefing, held on Tuesday (March 23), Dunstan Bryan, permanent secretary in the health ministry, said that, of the 26,512 persons who had been vaccinated, 14,619 of these were health care workers and 3,030 were senior citizens.

The number of elderly persons who have been vaccinated is expected to increase over the coming weeks, as inoculation efforts are now being geared towards persons aged 75 and older.

MEDIUMS FOR MAKING APPOINTMENTS

Persons within the 75 and older priority group can make their appointments utilising any of the following mediums:

  1. Book directly online via the Ministry of Health & Wellness’ website at https://www.moh.gov.jm;
  2. Call the Vaccination Call Centre Hotline at 888-ONE-LOVE (888-663-5683);
  3. Call or visit their Parish Health Department or Local Health Centre; or
  4. Call or visit their private doctor.

Bryan is however requesting that, where possible, individuals utilise the online platform, and “reserve the call centre for those persons who do not have the ability to engage in an online registration process”.
