Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Fitz Bailey says he is satisfied with the pace of the investigation concerning the death of Melissa Silvera.
While speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Bailey, who heads the crime portfolio, said that he could not reveal much about the investigation. However, he did disclose that the latest update he received about the murder probe was on Wednesday.
“What I will say is that the investigation is ongoing, and I’m satisfied with the pace at which the investigation is going. It is a very sensitive investigation, and I don’t wish to get involved in too much detail,” he shared.
Melissa is the wife of Jolyan Silvera, former West St Mary member of parliament and chairman of the People’s National Party’s Founders Group.

It was previously reported that she died in her sleep at their Stony Hill residence in St Andrew on November 10. However, things took a turn when an autopsy later revealed that three bullet fragments were found in her body.
Following the reports, her husband declared his innocence and denied any involvement in her murder.
However, he was questioned by police and his firearm was seized for testing.
