Cuba’s Technical and Industrial Services Company (Zeti) is undertaking works in order to guarantee the start of sugar mills for the 2021-2022 sugar harvest.
Among the work to be done is repairing nine turbo-generator steam turbines.
Prensa Latina reports that the company is also repairing 14 generator rotors, recovering commercial centrifuges rotors, making carbon brushes and rubber components, among others.
Alina Sardiñas, general director of Zeti, recently told Prensa Latina that the company is fabricating and readying sugar cane and bagasse transporters.
AVAILABILITY OF MATERIAL AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES COMPLEX
Sardiñas explained that 2021 has been a follow-up to 2020 in terms of the harsh circumstances around the COVID-19 pandemic and the worsening of the United States blockade against Cuba, which made ensuring the availability of material and financial resources more complex and it was therefore harder for Zeti to fulfill its commitments.
According to Sardiñas, the company’s more than 5,000 workers are collectively aware of the decisive role Zeti plays in the start-up of the mills, which is why they have multiplied their efforts to ensure success.
Sardiñas said the company was working to finish up the dwellings plan, which contributes to stabilising the workforce in the sector.
She stresses that Zeti has finally joined in on carrying out works in neighbourhoods and communities in the capital and other provinces, and is fabricating playground rides and repairing and building houses, schools, doctors’ consulting offices as well as other projects.
