The Christmas season is a time for fun, enjoyment and excitement. While ‘outside’ might not be
‘keeping’, the chances of friends and families getting together to have fun is highly likely.

And at these gatherings, one thing is for sure…alcohol. And alcohol surely equals hangovers. With all the stress that life
offers, taking just a few hours to let lose is well-deserved, but it is also important for you to gear up and be prepared to nurse that dreaded hangover.

Here are a few ways to cure your Christmas Hangover.

Drink Sprite

When we drink alcohol, to ensure too much does not enter the bloodstream, the dehydrogenes enzyme is released by the liver to break down the ethanol found in alcohol into a chemical called acetaldehyde. Another breakdown process occurs producing an enzyme called aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH).

Researchers have found that Sprite soda is one of the best drinks that speed up the ALDH process, causing the alcohol to break down faster, lessening the time in which one experiences the hangover. So if you anticipate a hangover, get all the Sprites you can from your little get-together and take them home for the following day.

Sleep

While a lack of sleep does not lead to a hangover, it can help to make the hangover worse. Nausea, headaches, irritability and fatigue are symptoms of a hangover that tend to intensify when one does not sleep.

Getting enough rest may help some of your symptoms to subside, making the hangover, once you are awake, more bearable. If you plan on drinking a lot, ensure the following day you are able to stay home and get the rest you need.

Stay hydrated

This is something many of us who have suffered from a case of hangover should know. Have you ever noticed that you tend to pee a lot more when you are drunk?

That’s because alcohol increases the production of urine which may ultimately cause dehydration.

In addition to this, the body might also lose fluids from vomiting. Dehydration is able to contribute to hangover symptoms including dizziness, fatigue and headaches. So, ensure you drink plenty of water.

Pain relievers

Purchasing over-the-counter pain relievers may be able to do the trick. Aspirin and ibuprofen are two pain relievers that can alleviate headaches and the overall achy feeling you may be experiencing.

However, there is also a chance that they may further irritate your stomach, so be careful.

Steer clear of Tylenol once alcohol is in your system.
