Assistant Commissioner of Police Calvin Allen, head of the police Area 2, says four of seven prisoners who escaped from the Oracabessa Police station in St Mary last month have been recaptured.

They are 25-year-old Jahmala Vernon, a construction worker of Boscobel, St Mary; 26-year-old Lashwan Davidson, otherwise called ‘Yeng’; and 22-year-old Linton Bailey, both of Jacks River, St Mary and 24-year-old Tray Walker, of Claremont, St Ann.

Allen said three of the four escapees were charged with shooting with intent, while another was charged with rape.

“They were held on four separate policing activities and also I want to commend the relatives who corroborated with the police and collaborated in handing in the fourth one to the St Ann police. So, four of the seven that escaped are now back in custody,” he said.

Still at large are: 22-year-old Phillip Williams, of Belfield, St Mary, who is charged with shooting with intent; 21-year-old Nolando Akenson, of Pimento Walk, St Ann and Boscobel, St Mary, who is charged with robbery; and 28-year-old Gaveen Hurd, of Stony Hill, St Andrew and Enfield, St Mary, who is charged with murder.

He also reminded citizens that the act of harbouring fugitives is a criminal offence.

“I am imploring the public, I know you have information out there. Find someone that you trust, find someone that you are confident in and share that information with us so that we can those back into custody and so the rule of law can be applied as it should,” Allen added.

Members of the public who may have information that can assist in locating the escapees are being urged to contact the Oracabessa police at 726-0698 or Crime Stop at 3-1-1, or through the Jamaica Constabulary Force tip line at 811, or the nearest police station.
