The Ministry of Health and Wellness says it has implemented proactive measures to ensure minimal interruptions in the services at the National Public Health Laboratory and the National Blood Transfusion Services (Blood Bank) amid reports that some workers have stayed off the job.
Reports are that employees took industrial action after they were allegedly disrespected by a senior staff member.
In a statement from the health ministry, it said it is partnering with the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), private facilities and individuals, and public hospitals with laboratory services, to ensure a continuation of functions performed by the entity.
The health ministry said it has not been advised of any industrial action taken by staff. It did not respond to allegations that workers were disrespected by a senior staff member.
