Hjort Henry of HMH Farms has been recognised for his knowledge and expertise in Jamaica’s poultry industry, receiving the Knowledge of Industry in Poultry Award, at the 2026 Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show, held recently.

The recognition reflects Henry’s extensive understanding of the poultry industry and his commitment to continued learning and improvement. This drive to expand his knowledge and further strengthen his business also led him to apply and be a part of The Honey Bun Foundation’s 2026 Advisory Committee Programme.

Through the programme, HMH Farms has been assigned a team of three experienced business professionals who provide strategic guidance and practical support to help refine the company’s operations, strengthen its business model and advance its growth objectives.

The Honey Bun Foundation’s Advisory Committee Programme connects selected small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a group of expert advisors who volunteer their knowledge and experience over a 12-month period. The advisors meet with participating business owners monthly to provide guidance in key areas of business development and support the implementation of strategies for sustainable growth.

Henry’s achievement at Denbigh, together with his participation in the Advisory Committee Programme, demonstrates the value of continuous learning and the importance of seeking expert guidance to build stronger and more competitive Jamaican businesses.

Speaking to  Our Today, Henry explains what the award means to him: “It really strengthens my credibility as a serious agricultural entrepreneur and validates my practical knowledge of Jamaica’s farming and poultry industry.”   Henry, who has been in the industry for 16 years, added, “This award also strengthens my drive to create the digital platform OVIFLOCK to further educate and assist farmers with record-keeping, data recording and analysis of their numbers to run a more efficient operation. We are continuous students of the industry, and I am proud.”
