
Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Sunday (September 5) announced that he would be speaking at the CARICOM-Africa Summit.
The summit which is a first of its kind will be held virtually on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.
According to Holness, the summit is as a result of the African Union declaring that the diaspora the sixth region of Africa.
The theme of the event, ‘Unity Across Continents and Oceans: Opportunities for Deepening Integration’ will see presentations from various Caribbean and African leaders on how they can better collaborate in politics, education and health.
In addition, the summit will feature heads of state and government of the Caribbean community and the African Union; Chairs of CARICOM and the African Union Commission, and the Africa Regional Economic Communities; the new Secretary-General of CARICOM, Dr. Carla Barnett, and the Chair of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mousa Faki Mahamat, among other representatives.
The summit will be chaired by President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta.
