The Island Traffic Authority (ITA) says it is experiencing challenges with processing certificates of fitness for motor vehicles at service hubs across the island.

The ITA, in a statement on Thursday, January 11, noted that in the interim customers who are unable to receive their certificates of fitness will be issued a certificate letter noting the roadworthiness of the vehicle, which will allow them to traverse the roadways without fear of breaching the Road Traffic Act.

The agency added that once the processing of certificates of fitness has resumed, customers will be required to retrieve their certificates of fitness and will no longer be allowed to drive with a certified letter from the ITA.

The entity said it is working to rectify the issue as soon as possible and apologised for the inconvenience it has caused.

Members of the motoring public are being reminded that certificates of fitness can be renewed up to 30 days before expiration. They are also being advised to check their vehicle documents regularly to be aware of expiration dates.
