Former Prime Minister of Pakistan was sent back to prison after a health examination at a hospital in Islamabad by state doctors.

The 73-year-old was imprisoned in 2023 on corruption charges, including leaking state secrets. Last year his sentence was extended by another 17 years.

Many believe his imprisonment was politically motivated and aimed at preventing the popularity of the PTI, the political party he led.

Imran Khan is going blind in his right eye, where he only has 15 per cent of his vision left.

With his general health deteriorating, state doctors declared him “medically fit” and cast him back into prison to serve the remainder of his long sentence. 

The former Pakistan cricket captain who steered his country to victory in winning the Cricket World Cup in 1992 has been hailed as one of the best all-rounders ever to play the game, entered politics to change the fortunes of his country.  He wanted to establish better health care and implement welfare provisions for Pakistanis.

His political enemies and the military saw him as a threat that should be closed down and pinned corruption charges on him. 

While in prison, his sisters have been very supportive, calling for his release and monitoring his condition.

Imran Khan served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022. 

His blood pressure has been fluctuating lately, and he requires hospital care, but the state doctors insist his pulse and heart condition are normal.
