A sum of J$1.08 billion has been allocated in the 2026/27 Estimates of Expenditure for upgrading Tax Administration Jamaica’s (TAJ’s) Revenue Administration Information System (RAIS).

Upgrading the RAIS will improve the user experience and provide access to modern technological features and enhanced security systems.

It is also intended to improve voluntary tax compliance and satisfy the requirements of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).

Programmed targets for fiscal year 2026/27 include installing the RAIS GenTax Core 26 software, which provides functionalities such as an e-services assistant, financial data exchange, and improved payment management.

TAJ is also aiming to configure a customer relationship management, appointment and queueing system; prepare test plans and conduct user acceptance testing; and develop training materials and propose a training plan during the upcoming fiscal year.

The project is expected to begin in April 2026 and continue until March 2028, with a total estimated cost of J$1.9 billion.

The 2026/27 Estimates of Expenditure were tabled in the House of Representatives by Minister of Finance Fayval Williams on February 12.
