Normal room night stays are lengthier, and airlines are putting on more volume to meet the requirement

Jamaica is currently exhibiting one of the strongest travel and tourism revivals across the globe, according to Amadeus, a Europe-based, worldwide travel firm that aids the universal travel industry.

Senior executives of Amadeus said: “The Caribbean island nation is doing all the correct things to spur one of the speediest travel revivals.”

They found that the explorations and need for Jamaica are running 50 per cent forward of the worldwide average.

“Jamaica has been undertaking the correct things in the arena and the airlines and tour partners are countering in sureness.”

The senior travel executives added that travel agents have steered bookings to Jamaica while searches are amplifying the international average numbers in favour of Jamaica as a destination.

Tom Starr, a vice-president and Alex Rayner, a director of Amadeus, speaking at the World Travel Market in London, England, recently made the point that “Jamaica has been undertaking the correct things in the arena and the airlines and tour partners are countering in sureness”.

According to Rayner, Amadeus has observed that normal room night stays are lengthier, and airlines are putting on more volume to meet the requirement.

“This is very excellent news for Jamaica,” said Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, who led an advanced team from the Ministry of Tourism and the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) at the World Travel Market, one of the major worldwide tourism trade shows in the world.

Bartlett was joined by JTB Chairman John Lynch; Director of Tourism Donovan White; Delano Seiveright, senior advisor and strategist in the tourism ministry of Jamaica and Elizabeth Fox, JTB regional director of the UK and Northern Europe.

White said that “the ministry and the JTB have been functioning about the clock in link with Minister Bartlett’s insistent push to bring back our statistics and the tourism industry back on path in greatest time”.

Added White: “We have preserved, even in the low times, incessant and persistent contact with our many partners to safeguard that we can turn things around as rapidly as possible… . The work is difficult but unconditionally required and we are seeing the fruits. However, we continue to be carefully optimistic and won’t take our eye off the ball.”

Jamaica will this month begin accepting at least 16 flights per week from the United Kingdom, carrying the island back to roughly 100 per cent airline seat capacity as the country’s tourism numbers bounce.

Bartlett also headed engagements and connections at the World Expo 2020 Dubai, which will be of consequence in the boosting of tourism and investment opportunities for Jamaica.
