Jamaica records 15 COVID-19 deaths, 656 new cases in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) on Sunday (August 15) revealed that an additional fifteen persons have died from the COVID-19 virus.

According to MOHW, the deaths were recorded between the period August 5 to 13, bringing the overall coronavirus death toll in Jamaica to 1,300.

In addition, 656 new infections were recorded over a 24-hour period.

The majority of the new cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew, which has 116 new infections, while Westmoreland has 82 new cases.

There are 95 moderately ill patients and 44 critically ill patients among the 8,837 active cases now under observation in Jamaica.

A total of 421 persons are now hospitalised with COVID-19 in the island.
