The recently announced curfew orders in Jamaica will result in the forced adjournment of the annual general meeting (AGM) of Jamaican Teas Limited and its investment subsidiary, QWI Investments Limited.
Both companies made the announcement yesterday ahead of the AGM slated to take place next Tuesday (March 30) at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston. The companies advised that the AGM will be adjourned without transacting any business.
Notice will be given of the date, time, and venue of the reconvened AGM.

BOARD DECISION BASED ON NEW COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
The decision to adjourn the AGM was taken by the board of both listed companies. This was done “due to the recently announced orders under the Disaster Risk Management Act, in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic restricting in-person general meetings of companies until 13 April 2021,” stated the board of both companies.

Other companies on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE), scheduled to host their AGMs in the coming two weeks, might take similar action in observance of the government’s new COVID-19 protocols. The new protocols have also affected trading on the stock market with the JSE on Monday announcing early market closure for today, tomorrow (March 26) and next Thursday (April 1).
The market will open on these two days at 9:30 a.m. and close early at 11:30 a.m. The change for these two days is to facilitate the noon business closure in keeping with the Government’s directive.
