Minister of National Security Horace Chang has lauded the Jamaica Constabulary Force, describing it as one of the most advanced security forces in the hemisphere.

“The Jamaica Constabulary Force stands as one of the most advanced and modern police forces in this hemisphere,” Chang said, noting that the JCF is one of the only few police forces in the Northern Hemisphere to receive an ISO 9001 certification.

In 2022, the JCF received certification to ISO 9001 Quality Management System from the National Certification Body of Jamaica.

“This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our police force to develop and maintain high standards of service delivery to our citizens,” Chang said.

Chang was speaking at the passing out ceremony at the National Police College of Jamaica on Wednesday, January 31, where he welcomed 191 new constables to the police force.

The security minister noted that the ongoing technological advancements of the JCF are well aligned with the digital natives of constables entering the force, thus strengthening their capabilities.

“The Government is confident that this will result in increased efficiency and expanded talents to your opportunities in the police,” he said.

He further urged the newly minted constables to not just consider their role as police officers as a job but as a fundamental part of assisting the country to reach its development goals.
