With just four months remaining in the year, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is reporting that 899 Jamaicans were murdered islandwide up to Saturday, August 26.

With a still high number of murders, the JCF crime statistics revealed that this is a 10.8 per cent reduction compared to the similar period in 2022, when the country recorded 1,008 murders.

The parish of St James recorded the highest number of murders for the period, with 131 murders.

St James was followed by the parish of Westmoreland and the St Andrew South Police Division, which both recorded 79 murders.

Murders were recorded in all 14 parishes over the period under review.
