If you were bracing for a LeBron James retirement speech this week, you can relax. The King isn’t hanging it up just yet. What looked like a cryptic farewell teaser from the Lakers star turned out to be something entirely different, just a cognac collaboration.

LeBron set social media crazy after posting a teaser that included the phrase “The Decision” and a new hashtag: #TheSecondDecision. Naturally, fans and media ran wild, thinking this was the big one, the announcement that the NBA’s all-time leading scorer was calling it a career.

Instead, the “decision” was about a limited edition bottle of Hennessy. Yes, really.

On Tuesday, LeBron shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) about the release of the Hennessy V.S.O.P Limited Edition by LeBron James. The bottle design even features his signature crown gesture, and according to him, it’s meant to represent celebration and connection.

So, no, LeBron isn’t retiring, he’s just toasting.

That hasn’t stopped people from speculating. After all, the man has done it all: four NBA championships, four Finals MVPs, and 21 All-Star selections. If anyone had a mic-drop moment lined up, it would be him. But that day isn’t today.

At 40 years old, LeBron is heading into his 23rd NBA season. He’s still producing at a high level, averaging 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds last season while shooting over 50% from the field and nearly 38% from three. Not exactly a stat line that screams ready to retire.

The Lakers didn’t get far in last year’s playoffs, falling in the first round to the Timberwolves. But with LeBron still on the floor and clearly not done, there’s always a chance for another run.

So while the internet may have jumped the gun on his farewell, LeBron’s still focused on the game. And for now, the only thing he’s uncorking is a bottle.
