Veteran dancehall artiste Mavado is reeling from the sudden loss of his mother, Elizabeth Gordon, who reportedly died on Thursday night (March 11) in Kingston.
While a cause of death has not been disclosed, Gordon, who is affectionately known as ‘Ms Pinny’, was rushed to hospital after complaining she wasn’t feeling well.
The 40-year-old Jamaican deejay, born David Brooks, is yet to break his silence on the tragic loss and has instead chosen for the time being to change his Instagram avatar to a tender moment between himself and Ms Pinny.

The singjay often sang the praises of his mother, noted particularly in a 2018 Instagram post in which he hailed her as his greatest inspiration.
“Jah know this pic is so old but it reminds me of all the great things this lady do for me so this world could talk about me today only father god knows that’s why I will always love you mama my boss,” he said, showering her with love on Mother’s Day.
In November 2017, the musician released his ode to Gordon titled Mama, a single that was well-received by critics and fans alike.
