American rap artiste Megan Thee Stallion has indicated that she is now making “giving back” a priority, having acknowledged the unique position in which she finds herself to “amplify important causes”.

On Monday (March 8), Megan launched the Women On Top initiative, in collaboration with clothing brand Fashion Nova, to empower women by helping to fund inspiring businesses, nonprofits and educational programmes, with a US$1-million donation.

In an exclusive interview with E News on Monday (March 30), the WAP singer said her philanthropic efforts today were inspired by the strong women with whom she grew up.

“I grew up with very strong women around me, who instilled the importance of giving back,” Megan began.

“I realise I am in a unique position to use my voice to amplify causes that are important to me.”

Megan continued by stating that she was ecstatic when Fashion Nova reached out to her regarding the Women on Top initiative. Adding that, “Giving out a million dollars is a big deal! These grants are going to change lives.” 

MEGAN THEE STALLION DONATES US$1 MILLION

So far, the donations from the initiative have included US$100,000 to the Breonna Taylor Foundation, US$50,000 to Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Atlanta and US$25,000 to Texas Southern University in support of scholarships for women at the college of pharmacy and health sciences.

The latter holds a special space in the Savage singer’s heart as she is currently pursuing a degree in health administration at the university and is set to graduate later this year.
