In celebration of the series that brought her stardom, Miley Cyrus on Wednesday (March 24) put pen to paper with a heartfelt tribute to Hannah Montana on the show’s 15th anniversary.

The tribute, which took the form of a two-page letter, was posted to the Wrecking Ball singer’s social media pages and addressed to the lead character she played for four seasons on the Disney Channel show.

In the letter, Cyrus told Montana: “Although you are considered to be an ‘alter ego’, in reality there was a time in my life when you held more of my identity in your glovette than I did in my bare hands.”

The Party In The USA singer continued paying tribute, indicating how her time on-screen as an international popstar helped to kickstart and propel her music career further than she could have ever anticipated.

“You were like a rocket that brought me to the moon + never brought me back down”.

Recalling some of the memorable moments she experienced while on set, with co-stars Emily Osment, Mitchell Musso, Jason Earles and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus noted how she and Hannah have “been through it all together”, including “many firsts” and “a lot of lasts”.

The singer went on to say: “It was bittersweet to know I would be leaving you (a huge piece of me) behind in Stage 9. Which is where I say I grew up when asked. It was my home.”

Cyrus concluded by stating: “Breathing life into you for those 6 years was an honor. I am indebted not only to you Hannah but to any and everyone who believed in me from the beginning.”

“You all have my loyalty and deepest appreciation until the end. With all sincerity I say THANK YOU!”.

After Cyrus posted pictures of the letter penned on Hannah Montana stationery, the fictional pop star herself responded to the singer’s tweet.

“Nice to hear from you @MileyCyrus. It’s only been a decade” read a post from the official Hannah Montana Twitter account.
