Daryl Vaz, Minister of Energy, Transport and Telecommunications, paid a courtesy visit to the CAR Jamaica Motors Limited showroom, where he toured the facility and test-drove the KGM Actyon Hybrid, as the company continues to expand choice and introduce new automotive technology to the Jamaican market.
During the visit, Minister Vaz toured the showroom, reviewed CAR Jamaica’s growing vehicle portfolio and experienced the KGM Actyon Hybrid firsthand. He described the showroom as “very state-of-the-art” and praised the vehicle’s performance.
“There’s no two ways about it that the Chinese models are here to stay and they are going to make a big impact on the auto industry in Jamaica based on price, technology and, of course, your warranty and your service,” said Minister Vaz. “It’s going to be an interesting few years to see the transition and transformation of the motor vehicle industry in Jamaica.”
CAR Jamaica, the Jamaican automotive retail arm of the CAN Group and exclusive Caribbean distributor for KGM, is positioning itself around a customer-focused ownership experience that extends beyond the initial purchase. This includes comprehensive after-sales support, trained service personnel and an in-island warehouse stocked with genuine manufacturer-approved parts to support customers throughout their ownership journey.

“We recognise that purchasing a vehicle is not a one-size-fits-all decision,” said Mellisa Bailey, General Manager, CAR Jamaica Motors Limited. “Our goal is to give Jamaicans meaningful choice at every stage of their professional life, whether they are purchasing their first vehicle, upgrading as their careers progress or looking for a vehicle that matches their family and lifestyle. Just as importantly, we want customers to know that we are here for them throughout the ownership journey, with the service expertise and genuine parts they need readily available in Jamaica.”
The KGM Actyon Hybrid reflects this approach, combining distinctive SUV coupé styling with hybrid technology, advanced driver-assistance systems and a technology-focused cabin. The five-seat vehicle is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid system and is designed to deliver a balance of performance, technology and everyday practicality.
With vehicles starting from J$2.9 million, CAR Jamaica offers options for every stage of a professional’s life, from first-time buyers and young professionals to established executives and families. As Jamaica’s automotive market evolves, the company remains focused on giving customers greater choice, competitive value and the support required for a seamless ownership experience.
