University of the West Indies (UWI) student Chaleen Evans, who had been missing since Christmas Day, has reportedly been located alive in Hanover.

She was found at a property at Hopewell in the parish and taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St James.

Information on her condition was not immediately available.

The discovery of Evans alive came a day after Education Minister Fayval Williams appealed to residents in a number of Hanover communities to give their full support to the missing final-year student.

The 27-year-old had left the home of her child’s father on December 25 and had not been seen since.

Amid reports from relatives that Evans was experiencing bouts of depression, Williams had also appealed to the wider community not to take lightly the signs and calls for help of persons reporting mental health challenges.
