Former Opposition member of parliament and murder accused, Jolyan Silvera, was remanded into custody until February 8 following his preliminary hearing this afternoon.

Family members and media personnel were barred from entering the courthouse during the proceedings.

The former MP was charged with the murder of his wife, Melissa Silvera, by the police last week Friday.

It was initially reported that Melissa died in her sleep at the couple’s home in Stony Hill, St Andrew. However, a post-mortem led to the discovery of three bullet fragments in her body.
