There continues to be no respite in sight for Jamaican industry and the motoring public heading into a new month, amid an updated pricing regimen by State-owned refinery, Petrojam.
Effective today (February 1), 87-octane gasolene will cost $2.06 more than its baseline price from the week prior, to open at $168.20 per litre, after applied taxes.
The price increases were generally consistent across Petrojam’s closely watched petroleum product price index, with the cost creep now fixed for the first four weeks of the new year.
This week’s raise was most pronounced for kerosene, automotive diesel and heavy fuel oil (HFO), which each rose by J$4.50, J$3.06 and J$2.82 higher.
On the other hand, prices for propane and butane were the only commodities to fall over the past seven days, dropping $0.47 and $1.82 this week.
It is expected retailers will add their respective mark-ups to the announced prices.
