
The Racers Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver event, will host this year’s event is set to captivate athletics enthusiasts on Saturday, June 1, at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Renowned as Jamaica’s premier track and field meet, the Racers Grand Prix boasts a rich history of showcasing the talents of the nation’s most decorated athletes. After a year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event returns for its second year post-lockdown.
Devon Blake, CEO of Racers Grand Prix, is gearing up to elevate the fan experience for the 2024 edition. “We’re not just bringing back the meet; we’re enhancing it. Our focus this year is on engaging our fans like never before. We’re introducing online registration for free tickets, allowing enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the Grand Prix experience,” Blake announced.
Blake is eager to spotlight the potential stars from the Racers Track Club. “While we’re still finalising the details, keep an eye on Oblique Seville, leading the new generation of 100m athletes, Antonio Watson, Jamaica’s first World Championship gold medallist in over 40 years, and Zharnel Hughes, the British 100m and 200m record holder. They are expected to deliver exemplary performances,” he added.

Glen Mills, chairman of the Racer’s Grand Prix Organising Committee, in expressing his excitement about the event said, “This being an Olympic year, the Racers Grand Prix offers our Jamaican athletes a perfect platform to gauge themselves against the world’s best, right in front of their home fans. It’s an opportunity to assess their progress as they prepare for the Olympics.”
