The trial for Rohan Rose, the security guard charged in relation to the murder of social media personality Aneka ‘Slickianna Townsend’, was delayed due to the absence of a legal aid lawyer and the Crown’s failure to prepare witnesses for the trial.

Rose appeared before the St James Circuit Court on Thursday. He is charged with misprision of a felony because he knowingly withheld information about Townsend’s death from the police.

His trial date was rescheduled to March 19, 2024.

Rushawn Patterson, the man charged with the murder of Townsend, is remanded into custody until October 4. He was unable to attend a Zoom hearing after the necessary facilities were not put in place to accommodate the proceedings.

The body of Townsend was found floating at Reading in St James on October 21 last year by beachgoers in the area. It was retrieved by the Marine police.

Reports from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are that Townsend and Patterson were at a guest house when a fight between the two resulted in Patterson strangling Townsend.
