Tivoli wins JPL ‘gardens derby’

Tivoli Gardens defeated Arnett Gardens 1-0 in their Jamaica Premier League (JPL) encounter at the Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence at the University of the West Indies on Tuesday (July 6).

The match was the first for Arnett Gardens in this year’s competition, while Tivoli Gardens were playing their second on the astroturf at the facility. It was scheduled to be played on Sunday but was postponed because of the passing of Tropical Storm Elsa close to the island.

Romaine Bowers scored in the 67th minute to secure the victory as Tivoli Gardens jumped from seventh to fourth in the points standings after two matches.

Arnett Gardens are without a point in ninth position.

Tivoli Gardens are on four points and moved ahead of Portmore United (three points), Harbour View (two) and Molynes United (one).

Cavalier, through goal difference, lead the points standing on four points, the same as Waterhouse and Mount Pleasant Football Academy.
