Trinidad’s Fay-Ann Lyons dominates ‘I Love Soca’ on Jamaica’s Emancipation Day

Trinidadian Fay-Ann Lyons dominated the stage when she performed live at the I Love Soca Jamaica Cooler Festival event held on Emancipation Day, Friday, August 1, during The Best Weekend Ever at Plantation Cove, St Ann.

During her set, Fay-Ann Lyons called on the fete-ready people who “love soca from the bottom of their hearts” to sing along with some of her hit singles, such as Bend In Time, Raze, Wine Low, Wet and Wild, Block the Road, Upgrade, among a list of others.

The 44-year-old soca recording artiste and songwriter, addressed Jamaica as a “beautiful country” during the ultimate Emancipation Friday link up with pure soca, pure vibes and pure energy.

According to many patrons, it was a night to remember, and organisers of the event were equally as satisfied.

Prior to Fay-Ann Lyon’s performance, some local and Caribbean DJ talents kept the wheels of steel moving for patrons with soca hits from this generation back to the 90s.

Among the DJ mixers for the 8:00 pm to 2:00 am event were DJs TZ and Jamdown, Lantern and JW, Chromatic, Lank and Chris Dymond, and Franco and Brush1.

I Love Soca returns on Saturday, September 27, with the Illuminate event in Kingston and then on October 17 with a Cooler Festival in Black River, St Elizabeth.

The Best Weekend Ever is now underway, between August 1 and 5 in the northern parish of St. Ann, with premium events which began with I Love Soca, followed by Day Break and Milk & Honey on Saturday, August 2; Zimi Seh Beach on Sunday, August 3.

The events continued on Monday, August 4, with Rise and Toast and Allure events, and on Tuesday, August 5, with another climax event dubbed Late Check Out.
