Two women were arrested on reasonable suspicion of involvement in illegal lottery activities, possession of criminal property, and money laundering during a special operation by the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force (JAGTF) in New Haven, St Andrew.
According to the task force, the operation was a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to locate and apprehend wanted criminals.
The planned operation took place on Riverside Drive early Thursday morning. A search of the premises led to the discovery of stashes of money concealed in drawers, gift bags, plastic bags, and items of clothing. Also seized were receipts books, and a money-counting machine.
According to the task force, the seizure of the money-counting machine indicates the potential scale of financial transactions carried out by criminals.
The investigation is ongoing, with further updates to follow.
