More details have emerged from the brazen evening robbery of Beryllium guards in Mandeville on Friday (August 25).
Sources tell Our Today that the incident occured around 6:00 pm at the Caledonia Avenue branch of Scotiabank.
Security personnel from Beryllium Limited were travelling to the branch with four bags of cash by trolley when gunmen alighted from a silver Toyota Mark X motor vehicle and opened fire.
One of the security guards challenged the gunmen to a fire fight as his colleagues retreated.
Armed with rifles and pistols, two of the gunmen retrieved two bags of cash, before the larger group made their escape along Ward Avenue.
A nearby policeman, who heard the exchange, also challenged the armed escaping thieves to no success.
Six persons with gun shot wounds are now being treated at the Mandeville Regional Hospital.
The exact dollar value of the stolen cash is yet to be determined.
Stay tuned for subsequent updates.
