US manufacturing and trade inventories and sales up by 2.1%

Manufacturers’ and trade inventories went up in the United States in December 2021 earning US $2.20 trillion at the end of the month.

According to the latest figures from the US Census Bureau, this is up 2.1 per cent from November 2021 and 10.5 per cent from December 2020.

These numbers were adjusted for seasonal and trading-day differences but not for price changes.

As it regards the total value of distributive trade sales and manufacturing shipments in the United States for December 2021, the US Census Bureau has assessed this at US$1.71 trillion.

The bureau reports that this is down 0.7 per cent from November 2021 but up by 15.9 per cent from December 2020.
