A 12-year-old boy from Hope Bay, Portland, was arrested and charged for wounding with intent following a stabbing incident where he allegedly attacked a 13-year-old girl.

Reports from the Hope Bay police are that on Wednesday, August 16, around 11 a.m., the boy attacked the girl with a machete. When the weapon was taken from him by an adult, he retrieved a knife and stabbed the girl in her back.

The teenage girl was taken to the hospital and is undergoing treatment.

The boy was arrested. His court date is being arranged.
