A 15-year-old boy of Union District, Frankfield, Clarendon has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his 64-year-old neighbour on Wednesday, July 1.

Dead is Hyacinth Johnson, otherwise called ‘June’, a domestic helper of Union District, Frankfield, Clarendon. Reports from the police indicate that at about 7:00 a.m., residents discovered Johnson’s body at the rear of her dwelling house.

The lawmen were summoned, and upon their arrival, she was found lying face down and was partially nude. The body also appeared to be in a state of decomposition and had several stab wounds to the chest area and left side of her back. 

The scene was processed, and Johnson’s body was subsequently removed to the morgue pending post-mortem. During the investigation, the boy was named as a suspect. 

Last Saturday, September 19, the juvenile was apprehended during a targeted operation and taken into custody. 

On Monday, September 21, he gave a confession statement to the police in the presence of his guardian and Justices of the Peace, in which he admitted to using a screwdriver to inflict the wounds on Johnson’s body. 

A court date for the accused is being finalised.
