A 23-year-old welder has been charged in connection with a shooting incident on Glen Drive, Kingston, on Sunday, August 6.

He has been named as Shakeem Owen, otherwise known as ‘Buddy’, a resident of the community.

Owen is slapped with several charges including shooting with intent, assault occasioning bodily harm, assault at common law and possession of a prohibited firearm.

“Reports from the Constant Spring police are that about 12 p.m., Owen and four other men had an argument with a woman. It is reported that the men left and came back with a firearm. One of the men opened gunfire in the woman’s direction. Owen allegedly took the firearm from his accomplice and threatened to kill her,” the police said in a statement on Thursday, September 7.

The police said that a report was later made, which led to the arrest and charge of Owen after he was pointed out in an identification parade.
