The American Foundation for the University of the West Indies (AFUWI), and UWItv will host a virtual roundtable in celebration of the National Caribbean American Heritage Month in the US, on Tuesday, June 15.

The roundtable, running between 7:00 am and 8:30 pm, will be themed “Reparatory Justice & Economic Equity for the African & Caribbean Diaspora…If Not Now…When?”

AnnMarie Grant, Executive Director of the AFUWI noted, “We are honoured to have been able to assemble a virtual panel of distinguished presenters to explore this very provocative topic.  As the debate on reparatory justice intensifies, there are many different opinions and the AFUWI and UWItv are pleased to share intellectual discourse from informed Diaspora representatives.”

The panel for the roundtable includes: Oral Holder, Consul General of Barbados to New York; Professor Verene Shepherd, Director of the Centre for Reparation Research at the UWI; Joy Williams, President of Brooklyn National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP);  Dr Jermaine McCalpin, Reparations and Genocide Scholar and will be moderated by Felicia Persaud, Mass Communications Expert and CEO of Invest Caribbean. 

The roundtable, which airs live on www.uwitv.org, will feature an interactive question and answer session allowing for wider participation across the Caribbean region and diaspora.
