The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) is introducing a fresh dimension to its 10th Annual Research Conference with the inclusion of educator, digital creator and cultural commentator Andrew Dennis, popularly known as Miss Pearly Grandson, as a special guest speaker at the student expo on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
 
This year’s Conference, being held under the theme “Moving into a Sustainable Future: Readiness, Recovery and Resilience,” will place increased focus on student research, emerging technologies and the changing skills required for the future. The student expo opens the Conference programme on September 23 and will include student poster displays, presentations, workshops and the special guest presentation.
 
Dennis will address students from 9:35 am to 10:20 am, ahead of a workshop by UCC Chancellor Professor John MacIntyre on “Information and Data Security in A.I. and Why it Matters.” He joins a strong lineup of speakers and experts at the Conference, including Dr Barbara Carby and Professor Philip Anyanwu of the University of Reading, along with a diverse panel of industry leaders and academics scheduled for the second day of the event.

Andrew Dennis brings together education, creativity, and an interest in artificial intelligence in a way that is highly relatable to students, particularly through his initiative MPG AcademIQ.
 
His inclusion reflects UCC’s intention to show how student research and the Conference connect academic discussion with the interests and experiences of younger audiences, through digital influence and cultural relevance.
 
The student expo on September 23 will include poster viewing, undergraduate student presentations and specialised workshops, creating a platform for students to showcase their research while engaging with ideas shaping the future of education and work.
 
The 10th Annual UCC Research Conference will take place on September 23 and 24, 2026, bringing together students, academics, researchers and professionals for discussions on artificial intelligence, sustainability, resilience, research methodologies and other emerging areas.
