The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) will this year ramp up critical infrastructure development projects in the downtown Kingston district.

These include repair or replacement of sewerage infrastructure, water infrastructure, road infrastructure, work on the Port Royal Street Coastal Revetment project, waste management and affordable housing. 

Mayor of Kingston, Senator Delroy Williams, who made the disclosure at the KSAMC’s monthly meeting said work will also to continue on the second phase of the Desmond McKenzie Homeless Shelter.

In addition, work is slated to continue on the Church Street beautification project in bustling commercial district. 

The project, which is being funded in partnership with the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), forms part of the ‘Kulture Key’ Project designed to transform the downtown Kingston district.

Describing these projects as critical to the sustainable development of the capital city, Mayor Williams remarked, “we seek to continue with our vision for the transformation of Kingston. Our vision has been very clear. We have been pursuing that path for the transformation of Kingston and the repositioning of Kingston into a destination/tourism city… all of these projects will impact development within the city space.” 

He added that these projects align to the vision of transformation of the municipality.
