The Michaelmas Term of the Clarendon Circuit Court has been formally opened in May Pen, Clarendon, marking the commencement of a new judicial term.

The new term opened on Wednesday, reaffirming the Judiciary’s commitment to the administration of justice, the rule of law and the protection of the rights of all. 

The occasion brought together key stakeholders from the justice, law-enforcement and civic communities, united by a shared commitment to maintaining a justice system that serves with integrity and purpose. 

Among those in attendance were Acting Senior Superintendent A. Cardoza of the Clarendon Division, High Court Judge, Mr. Justice Courtney Daye, Mrs. L. Shirley-Holmes, representing the Custos of Clarendon, members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, and the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force. 

A highlight of the ceremony was the formal March Past, which added a strong sense of tradition, discipline and ceremonial pride to the proceedings. 

The participation of law-enforcement personnel and cadets underscored the important partnership between the Judiciary and its justice-sector stakeholders. 

As the Michaelmas term gets underway, the occasion serves as a timely reminder that justice is strengthened through collaboration, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to the rule of law.
