Police Commissioner Dr Kevin Blake has ordered an investigation into the killing of a constable in St Ann last night.
The deceased cop has been identified as Constable Ricardo Fairclough, who was assigned to the St Ann
Divisional Operational Support Unit.
Reportedly, on April 15, Fairclough was along Bravo Street, when an armed man shot and injured a woman. Fairclough was alerted by the gunfire and went to assist the injured woman, but the gunman turned his weapon on Fairclough and shot him in the upper body before escaping.
Both Fairclough and the woman were brought to the hospital, where Fairclough succumbed to his injuries and the woman is said to be in critical condition.
Blake has sent condolences on behalf of the Police High Command to the family, friends and colleagues of the slain policeman, who was shot and killed as he performed his duties.
Additionally, the Chaplaincy Branch and Welfare Department of the JCF are providing support to the family members, friends and colleagues of the deceased cop.
