Young Jamaica, the professional youth arm of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), ihas urged Opposition Leader Mark Golding to remove Dwayne Vaz as the People’s National Party (PNP) MP caretaker for Westmoreland Central.

The JLP affiliate believes that its previous appeal for Vaz’s removal has fallen on deaf ears, and reiterates that the matter is ‘gravely important’.

The former Member of Parliament for the constituency pleaded guilty plea on Tuesday (April 30) for breaches of the Integrity Commission Act

According to Young Jamaica, Vaz’s actions represent a breach of the country’s anti-corruption regulations and a betrayal of public trust.

The group is adamant Golding should ‘demonstrate his integrity’ by promptly removing Dwayne Vaz from the list of candidates.

“Failure to do so would not only undermine the credibility of the PNP but also raise serious questions about Mr Golding’s leadership. The youth of Jamaica demand accountability and transparency from our leaders, and it is imperative that Mr Golding acts decisively to uphold these principles,” the affiliate noted in an issued media release.
